Meet Our Providers

Dr. Mark A Long

Raised in a Tennessee farming community, Dr. Mark Long embodies the values of hard work, integrity, and compassion. He attended David Lipscomb University, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee. Dr. Long is a seasoned pediatrician with a rich background in both primary and urgent pediatric care, and he has a special interest in managing ADHD, asthma, and newborn care. Board-certified and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. Long brings nearly two decades of dedicated service to our team.
Kennesaw Pediatrics | Dr. Peter Strauss

Dr. Peter Strauss

Raised in Livingston, New Jersey, Dr. Strauss completed his undergraduate studies at Haverford College, excelling in track and cross country. He earned his medical degree from New York University, followed by a pediatric residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Before joining KP in 2009, he served as a primary care pediatrician in the Bronx and as an Assistant Professor at Emory University. Dr. Strauss has special interests in Asthma, Nutrition, and Developmental Disabilities. An avid runner and violin player, Dr. Strauss is committed to providing exceptional pediatric care to your family.

Dr. John Pitts

A Georgia native with over 30 years of pediatric expertise, Dr. John Pitts is a board-certified pediatrician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He graduated from Emory Medical School and completed his pediatric training in Atlanta. Dr. Pitts has a deep personal connection to pediatrics, inspired by his own experiences as a parent to a special needs child. He is particularly passionate about well child care and the unique joy in observing children’s growth and development. In his leisure time, Dr. Pitts is an avid reader of history and enjoys hiking the trails of the Georgia mountains.

Dr. Alexa Gusmerotti

After achieving her Bachelor of Science in Biology from The University of Georgia, Dr. Alex Gusmerotti excelled at Mercer University School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at the University of Tennessee Health and Sciences Center. An active individual, she enjoys hiking, spin classes, and holds a black belt in Taekwondo. Dr. Gusmerotti is passionate about providing comprehensive pediatric care and is ready to serve your family’s health needs.

Tanya Wilcox

Born and raised in Hazelhurst, GA, Tanya graduated from Georgia Baptist College of Nursing in 1998 with honors. She subsequently attended Emory University, earning a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on Pediatric Advanced Nursing Practice and Lactation, while employed at Hughes Spalding Children’s Hospital at Grady Memorial. Tanya’s distinguished career spans over 20 years, providing outstanding pediatric care and educating the next generation of leaders through multiple instructional roles in the greater Atlanta area. In her personal time, Tanya cherishes moments spent on her family farm with her husband and five children. 

Kennesaw Pediatrics | Carrie Maguire

Carrie Maguire

Carrie grew up in Sandy Spring, GA. Carrie attended the University of Alabama where she received her degree in Nursing. She started her nursing career at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in the Pediatric ICU in 2009, where Carrie continued to work while earning her Master’s Degree from Emory University as a Nurse Practitioner.  Carrie has always been passionate about mental health and recognized the critical need for pediatric mental health services during the pandemic. With close to 10 years’ experience as a Nurse Practitioner,  Carrie became certified as a Pediatric Mental Health Specialist. When Carrie is not seeing patients at Kennesaw Pediatrics, she enjoys watching football, reading, and spending time with her family.
