Newborn Care Services

A Bundle of Joy

Bringing a new baby home is a delightful yet demanding time filled with feeding, diaper changes, and recovery. To help ease this transition, Kennesaw Pediatrics offers comprehensive support starting right from birth. Whether you’re preparing for your baby’s first visit or seeking advanced newborn screening, our dedicated team is here to ensure you have everything you need.

Before Your First Visit

Following the birth of your new baby, our team will guide you through the process to ensure your first visit is scheduled promptly—usually within 1 to 2 days post-discharge. Remember, there’s no need to register beforehand; simply fill out the new baby forms at your convenience and bring them during your visit.

What to Bring to Your First Visit
  • Insurance Card: Bring your card for billing purposes. You have 30 days to add your newborn to your plan, but we recommend contacting your insurer as soon as possible.
  • Picture ID: For security, IDs of all visiting parents are required.
  • Discharge Paperwork: Containing vital health information, keep this paperwork handy and bring it to your visit.
  • Completed New Patient Forms: Available online for ease, these can also be completed at our office if you prefer.
First Visit Tips
  • Dress your baby in comfortable, easy-to-remove clothes and bring a light blanket.
  • Feel free to bring snacks and feeding supplies. Kennesaw Pediatrics supports all mothers in breastfeeding or bottle-feeding in any manner they choose within our facilities.
After the Visit
  • Patient Portal: Sign up for 24/7 access to medical records, direct messaging with our team, and appointment scheduling.

Enhanced
Newborn Screening

Standard screening tests for 28 inherited disorders, but at Kennesaw Pediatrics, we offer the StepOne screening kit that tests for over 50 genetic disorders, going beyond the state requirements to include recommendations from the ACMG and March of Dimes. This only requires a simple heel prick performed in our office.

Early detection of conditions like hormonal disorders, sickle-cell anemia, and immunodeficiencies can be lifesaving. If you’re interested in enhanced screening or have any questions about our newborn care services, don’t hesitate to contact us. Our goal is to provide your family with a solid foundation for a healthy start.
